Don’t, any dirt and or wind will make the cover rub through the paint on corners of the bumpers, roof, bonnet etc. I know from bitter experience.... twice. |

Curiously, have been thinking the same for the other car. Next door neighbour burned some cack last week, then it rained and I could not get the debris off the car with a wash, clay bar got most off, ended up machine polishing it. You have to watch with covers as they can easily damage paint too. Don't think cheap ones are worthwhile. |

Put a sun shade in the front windscreen to protect the dash and trim from the sun. |

If you have the space, one of these is a useful bit of kit and can be folded up when not needed, again if you have the space.

If you do use a soft microfibre style indoor one underneath to stop the exterior cover chuffing up the paint |

Thanks for the tips guys. I like the machinemart tent idea but the Mrs would moan about it next to the house and I have the other car in the garage and the Rangie won't fit (length wise anyway!).

My last cover has a microfiber liner with a waterproof shell, it was expensive! I only ever fitted it after cleaning the car, it still rubbed through the clear coat on the roof and bumper corners.... It wasn’t used that often before I spotted the damage either, less than 6 months after buying and probably used a couple of months of that time, during our rainy session here.

You can buy Machine Mart “tent garages” in various lengths and there’s one that a FFRR will fit into.

I’ve seen one in use to cover a crashed D3 that was being stripped for parts. I think it was bolted down. 👍 |
