Headlight Adjustment for Europe

I'm aware that you can adjust the headlamps to drive in Europe, with a leaver in the rear of the headlights does anybody know which way it goes as have read that they can be sticky and I don't want to break them.

Thank you for your reply mine is a 2004 but has a 2006 conversion front end is down still the case
