Now I know that sounds silly but here goess,

As you may have seen, I've twice had the judder/rumble from what I can only suggest it the torque converter (I suspect this because on both occasions I had an oil change with some judderfix added) and the issue went away.

This time however, when the car is cold, I get a very labored gear change into 2nd and 3rd. settles down after 5 mins of driving though.

My quandary now however - given that I suspect the TC or Gearbox will give up at some point in the near future (I'm at 124k miles now for on a 2010 MY) is it worth spending 3-4K, as I think that's what a replacement would cost, for a car probably worth about £8K or save that money and look to update.?

Probably looking at £35k for a nice low mileage L405.?

Always a tough one to answer. If a new gearbox gave another 5 years of trouble free motoring I would do it in an heartbeat, but without a crystal ball the gearbox could be the start of some big bills.

Also, as crazy as it is a £35k L405 will probably only have 12 months warranty, so the merry go round would start all over again in a year, unless of course you purchased an extended warranty, which is no real guarantee of trouble free motoring

Indeed - both very valid points...

perhaps it's just 'itchy feet' time for me - havng had the latest L322 for 5 years.... Maybe just time for a change..?

I'm going to try both the 3.0 ltr and the 4.4 on Saturday to see what my preference is - that will at least point in the right direction to start my search Ash

Don’t forget the unseen cost of depreciation. May be more than a few quid on rectifying worn out bits. Hunt for a L405 is on.

If you dont get it done will it be harder to sell it ?
