Hello!

I'm a newbie here having just bought my first Range Rover after having driven a Defender for a while (much to my wife's annoyance!)

Can anyone advise what the symbol highlighted in the attached photograph represents? I cannot find anything anywhere to explain what it is. I've got a 2016 L405 model but I imagine it's the same on other Range Rover models.

Also, how easy is it to get Apple CarPlay retro fitted to the existing infotainment system? I've seen a few videos where it seems to work from the existing Navigation button.

Yeah - when I looked at it, it looks more like a 'G'.

I've taken another picture - not sure if it is any easier to see though!

I had a GPS issue when I first got the car - that has the following error in the Sat Nav screen.




The above warning has disappeared now and the Sat Nav is working as expected.

Sorry, I didn't explain properly - the GPS fault has disappeared from the Sat Nav screen however the 'G' with the red line through it is still present on the home screen.

I can't find anything about it anywhere. Pressing it on the screen doesn't do anything either...

ah, do you have any extras on your AB that begin with G.. ... - .- -.

Not that I am aware of Stan.

The only possible thing I can think of is that it is something to do with GPRS/GSM as the icon is relatively near to the Phone icon (when a call is being made).

I've connected my phone (iPhone XS) and made and received calls no problem, even when this 'G' is present.

Even if I disconnect my phone from the Bluetooth, the G is still present.

I'v tried adding in a secondary SIM card under the dashboard - the 'G' is still present with or without the SIM in place.

I'm fairly sure that the 'G' hasn't always been there so it's just a new 'feature' that has appeared lately.

Just found out that my car has a 'gesture tailgate' - been out and tested that in case that was the issue. It is a working fine and dandy so not that either.

The first picture you posted appears to show the vehicle in Valet mode. Might be wrong but could it be that the G with a line through it confirms that the load space is locked?

When you tried the gesture tailgate was the car still in Valet mode? If not you could check with it in Valet mode. John

Does this appear on every screen? For example if you go into the phone screen does it still show or do you see 4G etc?

This symbol appears in every screen.

I wondered if it were something to do with the Global Window Closing/Opening so tried that but that works okay too.

This could be one of those mysteries that will have to wait until the next service to find out - at a cost no doubt!
