Servicing just now

I am due a service over the next month or two. Anyone know if RR are doing routine servicing just now? Also, what are the implications on warranty if you wait until all of this is over?

How old is the car ?

The RR warranty allows for 1000 miles / 1 month past the indicator light coming on, which may take a while depending on your essential mileage - and likely the 1 month will be eased given MOT's have.....

Going by the LR and motorcycle dealers I use (both franchise) what is happening is that they are on a skeleton staff and doing servicing/work only for vehicles used by those involved in essential services.

The BMW motorcycle dealer is doing police and blood bikes only. Other customers can join a waiting list. There has been no statement from BMW about warranty cover for owners who cannot get a service in time.

Lloyd LR have sent an email saying they are closed, but NHS etc people are to call them, they will try to help if they can. My car does not need a service so i have not asked about warranty cover. Only Range Rovers since 1988

I should have added - keep evidence that you tried - emails, copies of websites saying closed etc....

Thanks guys, it’s coming up to its 2 year service. It’s only done 2000 miles since it’s last service. I bought used in September.

In which case read this thread - seems like you only need a service when the car tells you it needs one

English MOT ?

Should be fine - they've extended them all for 6 months - the people caught in a nightmare are those needing them before 30th March.....

France

Craig
What are the circs? If your chum’s car is French-registered and if he doesn't already know, tell him that, whilst the Fr equivalent of MoT testing stations are allowed to remain open, most are closed for the safety of their staff. In addition, driving to an MoT test is not a legitimate (’essential’) reason for being out and about in France! However, the French Government has announced that the validity of Contrôles Techniques which expire during the current epidemic are automatically extended for 3 months (similar to the UK, I understand).
But if it’s a Brit car, he’s in France and the car’s in the UK, I’m afraid I dunno …
It's "bébéchoon", ackcherly, with accents. 'Steve' to my chums.
20 years ownership of Solihull products, ALL GONE NOW, sniff!
Current motor: Suzuki S-Cross 4WD auto, 1.4 petrol. Oh so reliable! 5 years now and no problems. Oh, all right then, a leaking shocker replaced under guarantee.

Thank you Steve & Alistair but it is English registered & it would appear the six month English extension is more for essential use key workers... He can't or shouldn't travel in both France & England so when his MOT runs out god only knows what the French plod will do if he's caught? What a bloody great mess!!!

Every UK MOT due after 30th March will be extended by 6 months regardless

Independently of that there is guidance about travel right now - but the extension isn't restricted to those - the restrictions are only mentioned for those with an MOT due before 30th March reminding people that they can still get an MOT

As restrictions ease, you'll still have an extension so that things can get back to normal & garages can cope with the backlog

Read the link again - some careful wording in there Smile

You will still be expected to tax your vehicle - and need an MOT to do that..... I guess some people will SORN but most will hope to be driving again within a month......

Craig, my experience is that the French Police or Gendarmerie show no interest in UK MoTs. The system here is a vignette in the windscreen showing the date of expiry of the equivalent to the MoT, the CT.

They will not look for, or expect that in a UK registered car and won't ask for an MoT ccertificate.

He should be perfectly fine. John

Agree - having been stopped and relieved of 90EUR on multiple occasions for momentarily straying slightly over the limit Whistle I've only been asked for a driving licence and occasionally the V5 but nothing else.
