Pirelli Scorpion Zero feedback

So, a few weeks back when we returned from our Switzerland trip i fitted my Summer wheels & tyres... A short while ago i found a brand new set of Pirelli Scorpion LR 275 40 23 M&S 109Y tyres. Now these i believe were made in very small numbers for LR to fit the Range Rover SV Coupe as they were on factory 23" alloys... These have a foam panel approx 2-3inches thick around the whole tyre's inner circumference... Now ive seen these fitted inside Conti Silent tyres but not in Pirelli's...

So, i thought i would give a small bit of feedback as the these tyres and its 100% positive! The car is Sooooooooo quiet its amazing! The grip dry or wet is fab...

Hope this helps Thumbs Up

Nothing to stop you fitting the appropriate foam to tyres yourself before fitting to wheels. Nothing complicated about it but the effects appear to be very worthwhile.

The Rolls Royce Phantom has the foam, they call it 'silent seal'. I don't know which company makes them though.

Johnboy, I wasn’t trying to say this was a new technology or even a new thing for Pirelli... More so a write up to tell members about my (first) experience of them sir 👍

Just spoken to a chap who has these on his Volvo, all well and good until the foam falls off, which it often does, and then the car shakes unbelievably, so maybe not such a good idea. Rolling Eyes

I have them on mine, seem fine other than a firm ride.

Does the ‘zero’ name indicate they are run flat? 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Baltic Blue, Jet interior

No sir, I’m unsure why they are called Scorpion Zero? But I know for sure they are NOT run flats sir 👍

I don't know where the name comes from, but I do know the P Zero's were first made for the Ferrari F40 - random fact Whistle

Revolutionary at launch, having an asymmetric tread pattern & sone kevlar to make them lighter.

Interesting Alistair... Didn't know that Bow down

A quick google search tells me the name "Zero" was chosen at random... See below Thumbs Up

"the name was chosen almost at random for a type of tyre developed for that year’s San Remo Rally and for what many fans still consider the highest expression of international motor sports before electronics took over: the Ferrari F40."

Looking at the Pirelli site there are now all all season zeros as well as verde.

I wonder if there is much difference between the 2?? The zeros seem to be the newer model. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Hi Craig,

Any updates on the Zero AS tyres you fitted? I am looking to replace ours within the next month (255/55/20: 2015 VSE 4.4V8)

I want to run All Season tyres but the market is quite limited tbh so these look to be a good option with the only downside is the lack of reviews?

Cheers,
Neil

I can’t speak highly enough of them... They have been used now for six months (as I have dedicated winters) and they are excellent in every circumstance I have used them in... Including heavy rain, standing water and blistering hot weather too... 👍

Preference of winter tyre? I might look into getting a spare set of alloys and swapping over?
