Van logistics

Well, I am on unpaid leave until various countries open their international boarders so am looking for a job just to tide me over.

I have been offered a multi drop van drivers job and I wondered if anyone on here was in a similar industry and could possibly advise on whether it is a good deal or not?

£138 per day and 18p per mile. Minimum of 5 days per week work offered and a 9 hour day and 80 mile route.

You have to lease a van from them at £270 per week.

All the above is before tax.

Jim

The 18p/mile will be swallowed up more or less by the diesel you have to buy.

That leaves you with around £9.30/hour before tax.

A few questions you need to ask ;
Do they deduct tax at source.
Who pays your N.I.
Who is responsible for any damage to the van.
Who pays for any parking PCN's.
Is the van under 3.5T GVW.
How many drops a day will you be expected to do.
Who provides your PPE.

TBH, there is no easy money in multi-drop of any description - you can live on it (just). 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

I reckon that is a monthly net of @ £1875 (after tax/NI)
@ £1 per hour above the minimum wage
assumes you work 45 hours a week for 52 weeks .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

I do deliveries here in Cornwall but not Multi Drop.

My Sprinter insurance (minus Multi Drop) - £650 pa

Include Multi Drop - £2500.00

Id suggest respectfully unless you have other work with it not to bother.

Our Hermes driver gets 80p per drop.

But she has other work with it too

Best of luck - PS Im in the same boat as the support fro the Govt accounts for zero.

Is your employer not putting you on "Furlough" and then claiming (and paying to you) 80% of your normal salary? 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Ah, that's a shame.

I'm freelance myself so won't get any government help at all, although I'm ok at the moment as have work until end of April. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Would you get short term work with one of the supermarkets dropping off groceries?
Dunno what it pays, but they give you a van and uniform, hopefully ppe!
Just an idea. Thumbs Up
