New to the forum

Hello!

Been many years since I've used a forum but my love for Land Rover has brought be back. Not long ago I sold a 2009 L322 3.6 Tdv8 vogue as it was costing me a fortune to run doing thousands of miles a month. I got rid of it for a bmw 330d...

I regret this decision massively! I need another range and I've got my heart set on a late l322 4.4 tdv8 so will be lurking here trying to find the right one.

Hope you're all well

Cheers.

My ideal would be a 4.4 TDV8 as mentioned but I'm open to any specification. Truth be told my last range rover was Vogue spec and had everything I needed, and I dont really know the full details of the last spec L322's

I'd prefer either grey or black I think.

I'm more concerned about maintenance and how well it's been looked after

I dont want to spend over the odds as I still have another car to fund, I'd like to buy one of these with the intention of a second car to keep for years

Hello Ben

Welcome to the world of hunting for L332 4.4 TDV8's but don't ignore 3.6 TDV8's if they are forum cars. I too own a BMW and cannot what to get rid of it for an L322. If your going to throw money at a car, it may as well be a Range Rover.

I'm on the hunt for a 4.4 TDV8 Vogue/ Vogue SE and I have narrowed it down to a 3 or 4 now. Most are local to me but I would travel for the right one. Let me know if you find any south coast based and I'll let you know if I've looked at them or not!

Cheers
Ben

Cheers Ben

My previous RR was a 3.6 and it was excellent, I can only imagine the 4.4 would be better in every way.

I think I'm set on buying from a private seller as I want to know all the history / work that's been carried out, I just dont think theres much chance finding all that from a trade seller. The forum cars I've looked at recently look superb in comparison to many I've seen on autotrader / ebay etc

Theres nothing wrong with my bmw, it's just a bit boring.

Are the ones you've looked at from the forum?

Agree on the maintenance. I've spent a wack on mine getting it "right". You can see the evidence from my list.
https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic44115...p;start=75
It even included a new secondary turbo. If I was doing this again then I'd get any candidate cars up on a ramp, remove engine undershield and check it's 100% bone dry. The 4.4 can weep from a few places - and I had them all! Oil cooler, oil pump and turbo! I'm half considering moving mine on as I think I'll be WFH more in the future so could live with just one Range Rover - I have a 1993 Classic 200Tdi Whistle Bow down
Good luck with the search! I'm video chatting to Ben in Hampshire later to give him a walk around tour of mine Thumbs Up 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

My BMW is a 318d touring, it handles well, don't ge me wrong but it is just.....boring.

The only one of the forum that I found so far is Davelyn's 3.6 - https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic48815.html - we've spoken on the phone and it is top of the list to go and look at, followed by the 4.4 in Portsmouth. All the rest that have fitted my search options (3 or less owners, 80,000 to 125,000 miles, full documented history, owners who know what they are talking about etc) have been dealers. The only one from a dealer I have spoken with is this one - https://www.sbautomotive.co.uk/used-cars/l...4167027813

There are a few bits needed on that one that I have seen just from the videos I've been sent and also from the MOT history checker - chipped screen, minor rust on the rear wheel arches, the brake lines have been corroded badly in the past and it has a tow bar so maybe its been a boat hauler or just suffered from winter salt etc. I'm also not sure about the Ipanema Sand and Arabica interior on this one.

The only thing that is stopping me going to see any of them is the Covid situation. Once it all calms down I'll start viewing. I've not ever driven one either, all this has come up because a mate has let me use his RR Sport and I'm hooked. I'd have a Sport but then realised you may as well have a Fattie if you're spending that sort of money!

I'd be so much more inclined to buy off a forum member. I think it's much easier for anyone to offload a car with problems or potential problems to a dealer. I think theres less likelihood of that happening on a private sale. I'm just always suspicious really!

My previous range was bought from the TDI Specialist up in bishop Auckland. Good fella who specialised in land rovers and had some real nice examples in, he certainly seemed to know his stuff so I think I hit well with that one. Endless trips between durham and scotland including a mammoth tour of Scotland coast lines and it didnt miss a beat, was just pure luxury.

The V8 was so smooth mate. I cant wait to see what the 4.4 will be like in comparison to the 3.6.

My old one was till out there last time I checked AT.

Bit steep price wise, but he’s had it for a while...... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

No affiliation to me on this. I traded it at Beadles LR in Watford.
