Diesel filters

Received this from JLR ( I don’t have a diesel light but no matter) 66 year

Q
your Diesel Particular Filter warning light shows as amber on the dashboard, this indicates your filter is filling up and needs to be regenerated. To do this, it’s recommended you drive the vehicle at speeds between 40 and 70mph on roads designated for these speed limits, for 25-35 minutes.
UQ

Suggests speeds of 40 mph for 25 to 35 minutes., whereas the conversations on here suggest higher speeds. ..what’s right?

JLR are not clear about when the regen starts, so how long does it take? I can work backwards.

Thanks. Bill Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

Greg is the DPF Doctor, but I think we agree .... get it on a motorway, set the cruise control to 55-60 mph and monitor the exhaust temps and soot mass, ( assuming you have an iid) make sure you have at least quarter tank of fuel and 20- 30 minutes later ...bingo... I did mine on Sunday following an oil and filter change , got it down to 4.1g temp just reached 600c,
but I was on my own, so couldn’t take screenshot until next junction.

Thanks for the response

Yes I have noted the speed of 55/60mph suggested in previous posts,

I just do a fair bit at 40/50 mph on the lanes, Before I break out onto proper roads , and I was pleasantly surprised by JLR’s message . Hence my question

Personally, I don’t think speed is so critical, but keeping a steady throttle setting is paramount., hence cruise control is good.
