So I filled up with £70 of bargain 99p petrol today - there was about £15-20 in it already so I think that should be about full. However the attached picture shows what the gauge and range says - it clicked when I filled and even when I slowly pulled it out.

What could cause this it recently had the lpg fuel return fitted but I don’t want to go in moaning for no reason as that’s a bit out of order...

Just wondered what it could be...

Last saturday filled up mine. Had about 10 liters left as the light had come on and the pump showed 90.1 liters.
Much to my surprise the gauge only went a hair above half way when I started the engine.
I drove home, some 10 km and nothing had changed so I decided to pull the battery negative and let it sit for a while.
When re-connected, the gauge showed ZERO and the amber light was on.
off, I disconnected the battery once more and let it sit for a longer while. I turned the key and it stayed at zero yet again.
When I actually started the engine though, the needle shot up all the way to full.
Has worked flawlessly so far, after 300km shows about half a tank.
I don't know what went wrong and really hope some floater was just stuck and now moves freely again.
I understand there are two of them and gauge reads the average.
Worth mentioning, the car had been sitting at the workshop for about two weeks as I was doing the rocker covers / gaskets ...

If it does it again, I'm going to check the connectors. But it was sure no coincidence this happened right after filling the tank so I might have to change the senders as well for peace of mind.

if its a really hot day you wont get a full full tank of fuel due to the vapours trigvgers the stop on the pump gun.

if you want true full you need to fill up when the temp is at its lowest

Occasionally I get a misreading on my fuel gauge. It will sometimes sit around the halfway mark,could be above or below it.
Then 1-2 or maybe a few days later it will go to being on the full mark and sit there slowly going down.
I always run it down to around the quarter mark then fill it up.
Once when I was coming back from a trip to Tassie,I filled up after getting out of Melbourne and the gauge only showed half a tank). I pulled into a servo at Wagga and only put in $15(gauge was just on quarter mark I started the car up and the fuel gauge went straight to full mark.
Havent bothered to fix it, I know that I can get around 700k,s out of 3/4 tank so I just go off the mileage that I do.
