Hopefully you both already know this - but that bike carrier needs the factory tow bar armature in order to be fitted - and that is armature is not a standard item on all cars - it's usually only installed as part of a tow bar installation.

You need the big bit in this picture - the bile carrier fits into the 2" square receiver

No issue for my 2010 3.6 TDV8, currently used by my son, as the vehicle the bike carrier will be fitted to.

My own 2012 4.4 TDV8 does not have a tow bar fitted, this is planned for later this year when I purchase a caravan in the Autumn / Winter.
