Head Unit Upgrade for late 2005 l322 Facelifted HELP.

Hello everyone, I hope you have all been well and safe and getting tons done on the old fatties during lock down.
I have come to the end of my RR snag list and I have decided to try and swap out the head unit to a new fancy one.

HOWEVER....... I can not find anything that will help me with the head hi it I already have (the OEM)

Loads of info on previous models ( with the two little knobs on the bottom), but nothing for mine.

Can anyone help me by telling me where or what head unit I can put into my late 2005 facelifted l322.

Any help would be massively appreciated.
Thank you.

I think yours is a hybrid between the BMW system and the Ford system. I’m pretty sure nothing is available for that. Unless you rip it all out, and even then nothing in the car will interface to a new unit. As you say, you can change out the BMW based stuff but not the mix of both.

Again, stuff for the later cars won’t fit yours either, it being a mix of both technologies.

I’m sure others with the same car will comment.

Unless yours isn’t the hybrid mix entertainment system car, but I think it was 2005 unfortunately.

Will that work if the car has BMW architecture and the touchscreen? You fitted it to a later car with MOST fibre....though you know more about that than I do.

Need to determine if the car is a mix of systems, that was done for about a year.

If I’m right, and the front looks like the earlier car, ie top of bumper is flat, but car has touchscreen, I’m pretty sure it’s a mash up.

If the front is like the normal facelifts, ie top of bumper drops down under grille, I think it’s pure MOST system and later units will be ok....

So I think if it’s like the below, and touchscreen, nothing is available.

Sorry late in replying. Have had no internet all day.

I see where you are coming from mjd. I did check the Navtool website before posting and they do say 2005 to 2009.

My Td6 was touch screen like the OP's and IIRC the set up was the same as my current one in relation to MOST and the nav input. Though you are correct that I fitted it to my 2008.

The system is primarily through CANBUS.

If he is interested in doing it, the OP should confirm with Navtool.
