Whats the part number for a 1989 3.5 EFI Ail Flow meter? Are they very dificult to get hold of? Range Rover Classic 1989

Hi. The part number is ERC9127. But if you need to get one it will cost you both arms and legs for a factory Classic part. £1200ish. Many companies offer a replacement of the Bosch/Lucas 2AM meter unit or even an exchange/repair service. Expect to pay around £250ish. Try a known good one first is my best advice. They were fitted to many vehicles not just Land Rovers. Usually damaged by a backfire, water ingress or someone playing with the insides!!! Good luck

Re the Mass airflow meter.
I have been doing a lot of reseach on this since I first posted the enquiry. An original is hard to come by and as you say will cost a fortune. But it has been superceded by ERR5198P. Ihe P apparently stands for not original. have checked with Rimmers and a few other like companies that should know and they all say this number is OK for a replacemaent and (ERR5198) is the superceded part number replacement. If you look at the Photos from various companies offering them they are all the same. They come from China Prices start at about £ 40.00 from China. Suppliers in this country are talking abut £75.00
Re backfires. Years ago I had an 89 3.5 and I converted it to LPG. In them days you could only get single point injection. On at least four occasions the damn thing backfired and blew the MAf into allsorts of bits. I got really good at repairing and resetting it. The supplier of the LPG bits said I needed a "Backfire" preventer" Got to tell you one backfire later the "preventer was " fubar" in every sense of the word" Just went in the bin. FInding someone with a known working MAF must be dificult.
I finally took the whole lot out anf fitted the 2.4VM engine and I have to say it was faultless.

Thanks for replying. I have a 1989 3.5 EFi on offer. One owner 90,000 miles Never been welded and does not need welding. It has been dry stored for 17 years. Needs a lot of TLC, Fluid changes, discs, Pads and new tyres, I thought I needed to check on spare for it. I must admit my first Ranger Rover the 89 3.5 is the favourite of all the cars and Landrovers I have had and have there is a lot of nostagial going on with this one.

I had a 1986 efi Classic for about 10 yrs, absolutely loved it apart from the corrosion!! It had LPG on it when I bought it but after many issues including backfires and blown MAFs I took the whole system off. Good luck with your search.
