Egr delete a no brainer

I've read so many posts now about the egr delete that it almost seems a no brainer ! Very few have said oh leave it in , engine's designed for them ... my rr sport tdv8 2007

still has them , it's had new turbos , new injectors , new turbo pipes , I believe it's mapped but I've found under hard acceleration it puts out smoke , not lots , and only under hard acceleration, no smoke on start or tick over , but just wanted to know if egr delete will stop this or if you just have to live with that as it's a V8 lump running diesel ?
I know there's heaps of other benefits to blanking them so im pretty sure I'll have it done anyway Smile
Anyone know a good rr indi around Farnham ?
Thanks in advance

The majority of people running Range Rovers don't even know what an EGR is let alone how and why to delete it. Geoff

Geoff, because you mentioned it, I now have to ask it Laughing

What is an EGR, and why would I be interested in deleting it?

Full disclosure - I genuinely don't know what one is - I'd good with electrics and computers, but I avoid plumbing and oily spanners Rolling with laughter Current

Exhaust Gas Recirculation.

Takes your exhaust gas and passes it back through the engine. Supposed to reduce emissions but puts a load of cra9 back into the engine. Sooting up and oiling up of the various parts.

Thank you both Very Happy

To me, this sounds like EGR is a hack to get around emissions?

Does the removal of it impact the emissions any, especially come MOT time??

Sorry - what I should really do is now go away and google it to read up... Current

An EGR valve rerouted inert gases from the exhaust back into the engine’s intake, whenever sensors and the ECU deem it necessary, to reduce combustion chamber temperatures. While it seems counter intuitive to do this, high combustion chamber temperatures lead to both substantially increased NOx emissions (NOx is very nasty for those poor sods that have to breath the stuff) and increased thermal stress and wear on exposed engine components. The fact that city NOx levels are not coming down as they should be (partly thanks to some people disabling emissions control systems) brings ever tighter emissions controls down on us all and they have played some part in bringing forward the ultimate banning of Diesel engines.
It is illegal to use a car on the road with EGR valves disabled and is an MoT failure point. Those that do it have to rely on concealing what they have done from MoT testers.
If your EGR valves are working as they should, please leave them to get on with their thing Thumbs Up
