Hi. The right hand controls have never worked so I purchased another but when I was fitting it I noticed the grey wire was broken/cut. I soldered the cable buuut. . . After re-assembly the volume down button would reduce the volume but when released the volume would go back up and the same happened when using the knob on the centre panel. Cutting the cable restored the status quo.

Not sure how the Range steering wheel controls actually work, but on. a previous ford the steering wheel controls worked via the resistance of each button therefore soldering the cable would change the resistance and therefore could explain the weird issues.

However it maybe something else as it maybe a digital system on the Range.
