4 month old diesel

i last filled up in early march and i've tried to use it up i still have a quarter tank left ..

googling reveals that diesel is ok up to around 6 to 12 months so with just a quarter tank to use i should be all right..

what is concerning is the peeps that have full'ish tanks of fuel that have sorned or not used their FF since the lockdown and are not going to use for the near future.. ... - .- -.

My understanding is that, if the vehicle isn't being used for a while, it is best to have the tank full as it minimises condensation.

If that is so then it's a bit of a tradeoff between that and having older fuel. John

B.B. has been stood since mid March with 3/4 tank full and only done a couple of local runs up till Monday when I took it on a 253 mile round trip to visit our daughter in North Wales.

I am pleased to report that it run as sweet as ever.

Agreed, it's the condensation & thus water that can cause problems.

Unfortunately, BioDiesel is worse in this respect. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

I left my (diesel) boat for 6, sometimes 8 months - full tanks essential as Weegie says and I used a biocide additive from the chandlers.

Never had an issue with that regime and that was 800 litres

I wouldn't worry Stan... I have several cars here laid up since March including my FF... I worry more about battery condition to be honest... My point of worry would be 2-3yrs onwards not months...

My LSE hasn't been ran since 2017! I reconnected the battery during lockdown and it started and ran like it was started the week previously! albeit a petrol not Derv... Thumbs Up
