As elsewhere, the economy needs tourists and, provided one follows the rules, mainly common sense, there is no particular problem. John

We'll be going through Netherlands, Germany and Poland on Sunday so I will see if we get any reaction from the locals. Netherlands we won't even get out of the car though.

Someone I know has just arrived in the boot of Italy and didn't have any issues travelling the 2,300kms from home, but he didn't stop in France. Apparently the Italians are more relaxed in the south and most of the tourists are Italian. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

I'd guess that 53% unwelcome is not dramatically different than usual. In a poll of average brits, how many would you estimate want french tourists in the UK ?

As John says, bring a mask & you'll be OK - I found most shops 50/50 - even the local Mayors office 'only' had a sign up saying you had to wear a mask if you felt ill. However, as with the UK things are starting to tighten up.

I'm in Andorra this week & it's pretty much masks everywhere - I've seen people walking their dogs in the middle of nowhere with a mask on.... but other areas seem OK with no mask outside - however, absolutely everywhere requires a mask inside - one supermarket even mandated plastic gloves before you were allowed in .

Masks will be compulsory from Monday 20/07/20, with heavy fines for non compliance. Beware.

Interesting am due over first week in September coming through the tunnel then to Dinan and Olonne sur mer , which is fairly north for us , so guessing it may not be so good.

When do the changes come into effect?
The new rules come into effect on Monday, July 20th, health minister Olivier Véran announced over the weekend.

What do the new rules say?
