Private Messages

For some time I have been getting a "you have 1 unread message in your private messages inbox" message appearing just under the header when I log on.

I've deleted the contents of my inbox but still get the message in spite of not having any messages !

However, if I do get a new PM the message shows I have 2 !

Can someone from admin' please sort this out ?
