What are other people’s experience with Land Rover?

The used car market is pretty strong at the moment and prices haven't dropped as much as people were predicting, mainly due to the fact that sales of new cars have fallen off a cliff.

It's always worth a low ball offer, but don't be surprised if they politely refuse to accept. You might get more luck paying the asking price but negotiating extended service plans, warranties, etc. Tom

As has been said, always worth asking, but decent cars that are priced well seem to be selling fairly quickly.

It's always going to be different, you'll get money off a car that's priced high, but if it's a good price you won't.....only you can decide what the right price is.

The car I bought was priced well, one of the cheapest in the country for the age/mileage so I knew I wouldn't get much off and other cars I had in my Autotrader garage went quickly. The only movement was on my part ex, about £1200 in the end. They did well on that though, they didn't have to do anything to it as it was immaculate, they marked it up by £6k and it sold in 3 days! MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Plus there has been a huge increase in company director folk using grants & bounceback loans for new cars.

using grant/bounce back loans for cars is against the t&c's, so a bit risky

Different BBL providers have different T&C's

I applied, and said in the small pri t that I could not use the money for anything other than upgrading old equipment...

But other providers have no restrictions

I got 15% off initial asking price + 1000 km of transport from dealer on a CPO Range Rover.

It was delivered 2 weeks ago.

The best I’ve ever managed is price matching.

Basically sending them evidence of the other car(s) I’m looking at with a statement of I can get this car for x, but yours is closer etc,

A random discount has not worked for me in the past YMMV

I suppose you need to talk in percentage terms as opposed to a set figure of x thousand pounds.
I recently got 2,500 off of a car that was priced up at 40k so about 6.25 percent but if I’d have done a px they were reluctant to discount much at all. In fact I got the feeling they didn’t want new stock.

I felt the price I paid was pretty good, given the spec and mileage.

I also agree that there are a lot of people out there using bb loans to buy cars and I even feel that some people are just thinking to hell with it, life is too short so I’m going to spend it.

A good approach is to say how much you love the car. After your offer is rejected, say that their price / counter-offer is fair but you just can’t do it. Saying their proposed price is fair is disarming, limiting their ability to argue the point. But you have to be super resilient. You don’t have to walk away, you can still pay the extra, but in your efforts to get a lower price you have to go through an uncomfortable and potentially nerve racking phase, and one where they will probably suggest the car can be sold to another eager buyer down the road and you will lose out. Which may or may not happen. A game of chicken, if you will. Try it. There’s a very personal, undisclosed reason why £20k, 30, 60, £90K (whatever it is) is your hard limit. Assure them that at your price you will sign up right now, deal done. Cars I’m looking at (plus all the others more and less money around them) must be at least 3+ months unsold.
(strangely one car yesterday went from customer reserved back to for sale again in the same day..)

I’m not in any rush and I’ll make an offer and leave it with them..
