Insurance for Turkey (the country!)

Anyone have experience of obtaining insurance for a short term? My insurance covers pretty much most European countries, but not Turkey.

I understand you can obtain insurance at the border, but cannot seem to find any information other than that it appears to be for third party liability. All information gratefully received.

Good news is that LR Assistance does work there.

As an aside, in Turkey, even my 2015 would cost £200,000 (new is currently something like £350k+!) Shocked

We have been to a number of countries not covered by our standard insurance. In all cases we were able to get a Green card for insurance but, it only covered you third party, no comprehensive available. I would expect the insurance you buy at the border is not worth the paper it's written on. Hence we always got a Green card issued from the UK insurers.

Thanks Ivan - I will certainly try to see if I can at least get a Green Card

All you can do is ask your insurance company - they are all different in terms of which countries are covered, third party or fully comp (may be an additional charge) and for how long - some are 30 days, others 90 etc.
