2013 l405 5.0 L Supercharged with high milage

Hi Guys, I’m looking at a supercharged with 200,000 kms, anything to watch out for? Been doing some research tonight but could not find much except mention of timing chains.

I own a p38 with 200,000ks love it for off-road and a 2007 vogue 3.6 with 300,000 which has been a great car.

Not sure what type of high milage can be expected from a 5.0l supercharged

I am not an expert in high mileages however I reckon as long as it has been serviced correctly it should be fine, over here it's the rust that kills them before the engine, maintenance is the issue, Thumbs Up

The timing chain Tensioners and guides are an issue and its an expensive job so check if that’s been done.

There aren’t a lot of us with older petrol models on this forum - worth checking on the US forums where they’re more common.

120k Miles isn't really high mileage.
If it has been looked after you will probably find it has had alot of the common faults replaced and have a new lease of life.

Thank you all for your replies

Any idea the cost of parts for timing chain job? I do all my maintenance myself, and order parts from UK,

thanks again Paul 2015 AB 5.0 Supercharged

The parts including tensioners, guides, chains, all the gaskets, water pump (good idea to replace while its apart if it hasn’t been done), accessory and supercharger belts are about £900. Its a good idea to change the supercharger isolator and pulley bearing and change the supercharger oil while it’s apart too - about £200 in parts.

If you can get as much of the specific history as possible. The differential(s), transfer case and gearbox oil should all be done around 100k miles or 10 years and the gearbox filter/sump also.

Also test drive it for clunks or ride issues from the suspension. Take a good look underneath for leaking shock absorbers too.

I'm up to 137,000 miles (220,000km) in my 2013 supercharged and have only had one serious blip at about 95,000 miles - needed a new hydraulic tensioner and shortly afterwards a new fuel injector - total cost just over £5,000 of which Landrover paid about half. Always used main dealer for maintenance hence high price (but also, I guess, Landrover contribution).

You will struggle to get a warranty at this mileage and when something goes wrong it can be expensive - so a bit of a gamble on costs. If it was me I'd be heavily influenced by a comprehensive service history.

I've not taken any preventative action outside official service schedules - reading earlier posts maybe I should...
