Hi all,

We (wife and me) are looking to buy our first FFRR, with eyes on a Vogue SE SDV8 from our local main dealer. Approx £36k, 2015 plate with 46k miles. We are using main dealer in order to get the LR warranty just in case it goes belly up at some point.

We have had a D4 HSE for the past 3 years and my wife now wants a change.

Do you have any top tips to look out for when buying?

Hi Neil

In all seriousness Roger Young doesn’t have the best of reputations when it comes to cutting a deal. They also have some questionable ethics when it comes to putting the customer first should things go wrong with your car.

One of the members, Red Merle, lives down in your neck of the woods and I think he has had dealings with Roger Young’s in the past?

There are some cracking deals nationally, so you could always purchase from up country and leave Young’s to do the servicing and any warranty work.

We have just bought this from Roger Young:

This will be our first FFRR and our first experience with Roger Young so let’s wait and see. I have had Comms with Red Merle and read his comments, all I can say is that they have been good with us so far.

We bought from them as they are our very local dealer only being 10 min walk from home, and I really do hope their customer service comes up to what my wife and I expect from a major brand like LR.

We have the 12 month LR warranty with the car, so hopefully no matter what issues we may have they put it through the warranty with no extra cost to us.

When did you join the Corps and where are you living now Jim?
