Australia 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black
Attacked by kookaburras

Decided of a few nights away to the south of Perth, a couple of hours away to the Leschenault Peninsula Conservation Park

A nice scenic route into the forest.

Found a nice secluded spot, 5 pounds a night per person including firewood.

Made some friends with the local parrots

I always put a meat pie on the engine to heat up whist driving so was looking forward to this treat once set up. After the 1st bite, I was swooped by a kookaburra, then a group of three attacked from all sides. The Censored got my pie. Not a great start.

Surely they have meat pies in Swindon Stan? Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Mind you, we have a similar problem in Aberdeen where seagulls walk into shops and steal packets of crisps! Oh, the audacity!

I remember being camped up near Gympie in QLD (when we used to live in Aus). The kookaburras nicked the bacon out of the frying pan. It was quite funny watching them slap the bacon on a tree branch to try and bite a piece off.

Probably trying to kill it - it's what they do with snakes.

Had a great day exploring the area, most on foot but found quite a few decent tracks to drive down. Made it down onto Buffalo Beach and remembered to turn off the hdc so no issues driving on and off past all the toyota and nissan judges. Last night we had some great star gazing but its a full moon so could be better, still got to see a few satellites passing over and one shooting star. Very clear again tonight, the temperature is plummeting being mid winter. Plenty of fizz i think will keep us warm. Leaving tomorrow so will put up some track photos when home.

This area is a long thin strip of land, Estuary and wetlands one side, Indian Ocean the other. The camping area is in the middle. Plenty of tracks to walk and a few to drive

As its mid-winter, there are not too many wildflowers, there are plenty of Arum Lillies a weed here but still pretty

Plenty of wildlife about even during the day

The track to Buffalo Beach

A quick reccy of the beach entrance, dsc off, EAS Up, and a bit of beach driving

Sorry, no pics on the Beach, a few eyes about and needed to concentrate, this one coming off.

A couple of shots of this great wild beach, Superb fishing and one of the best places ever to watch Dolphins Surfing

And now back to camp
