So I have done a search and see that it appears I am in the early stages of haviing the fuel sender wiring issue on my 2011 4.4 tdv8.

I have read the TSB LTB0566v6 although I am hoping when it does fail completely it gets done under warranty, going to have to check that on Monday with a call to LR warranty.

My question is:

Is there a way to calibrate the sender unit? as having spent a few minutes showing no fuel , it now misreads and only shows 7/8 rather than Full, I have filled up twice now and both times it shows on the low side.

As far as I know recalibration is not needed or even possible.

Your variable readings are because the connectors are failing and changing the resistance therefore changing the reading.

Once you repair it, it should go back to normal straight away.

Suggest that, until you get it repaired you brim it and zero your trip meter. so you don't get caught out. You'll get between 300 miles and 500 miles tank range depending on driving.

When you have it done, you 'll want as low fuel level as possible too.

Pretty much what I thought, but does not hurt to ask.

Already looking at the range, zeroed it out and planning to refill at 250 miles until I get the chance to either fix it myself or it fails and I get it done on warranty.


The TSB states less than 1/4 tank is suggested to owners taking it in for the LR techs.
