It’s no different to offering a decent discount up front, just another way of doing it. Better to have a bigger discount and pay less overall.

I wonder that the finance company can feel comfortable with this, as they are out of touch with the new customer do ability to meet the payments for 6 months and are effectively “financing fresh air” (as lease companies would put it), as they are paying over the odds for the car in the first place.
