actually the nav is not to bad..i used it today and it worked very well....its just that when over in euroland i like to be prepared .. Mr. Green ... - .- -.

Working in the telecoms industry I am in the fortunate position to have 2 tablets with unrestricted data so I link both the car and phone to one when needed. In both the car and tablets I use Google Maps with downloaded maps so no data needed if up to date, the car auto-updates when I am home via wifi in the garage. 2007 TDV8 VSE

That’s fortunate then. I have had to get passengers to check on their phones occasionally. I shall have to look at downloading maps for times of need.

You can download google maps data before you leave home over wifi, so you just need to elect an area and download.

But be aware iPads that are wifi only do not have GPS in them, you only get the GPS with 4G enabled iPads.

I have a 10" tablet permanently installed with Android Auto as a head unit. It connects to the car via a Grom unit & Bluetooth.
the Tablet has a 24gb data sim installed that way I can get UK radio over here in France. It works well for me. Oh but I had to fit a heat shield because it gets too hot parked in the sun & then locks up.
