Why are the doors in two sections? It appears the bottom half of the painted area can pop off? Current stable:

The lower half of the (outer) door panel is Plastic and is held onto the metal door by plastic poppers.
I know this because my wife reversed ours onto the drive (its a sharp turn on a narrow lane) and caught the rear nearside passenger door on a sandstone wall and ripped the panel off! The panel sprung back into shape but the door panel needs a bit of panel beating now!!

With it being aluminium it hasnt rusted though, just looks 'weather beaten'!!

Interesting to if I were to resorts a door I should pull the lower panel off and spray both to do properly Current stable:
