Not being an owner of an L405 so cannot check but I wonder if it has something to do with air flow to help with cooling of one of the radiators in that area. Also, the bumper looks a little bulbous without the number plate to break it up a bit. 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

In my opinion it looks better on the bumper, kinda fits between the two grills...
Besides, I think the plate support comes prefit from the factory... So there will be holes in the bumper...

Also, remember the front camera sits there!

Wherever it is located it remains an (illegal) vanity plate. Sheep Sheep Sheep 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

Rip taking aside, I assume too that it’s for airflow, but are there not guidelines for where it needs to be positioned, height wise? Or is that just lights?

Some cars have them nearly on the floor, so I might have answered my own question 🤣 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I was going to say that, the requirement to have a front number plate in the UK is a pain. Who knows things may change when we BREXIT.

Various Teslas look a bit odd from the front, but maybe that is the lack of a grill Very Happy Geoff

Why should Brexit make a difference? All countries can set their own standards for number plates. Good example is Italian plates where the front is a miniature version. John
