Help please! About to buy first ffrr

Hi, I was hoping I could get some advice. I am about to buy my first ffrr and as I tow I will be getting the SDV8. I have narrowed it down to 2 cars;

Dec 2016 “66” Vogue SE 56k 1 owner black with ivory interior 1 yr warranty £40k nice additional spec

Aug 2014 “14” AB 41k 3 owners Corris with black interior 6mth warranty £36k

Which would you go for and why?

What spec is on the AB that isn’t on the SE that I am likely to miss?

I did have the build sheet for these years and I’m damned if I can find it Embarassed one definite difference is the 2014 will be euro 5 and the 2016 euro 6. I’m also sure there were some front suspension mods done on the late 2015 model to rectify clunking, along with auto stop / start. Trim wise they both have plenty of toys, and may depend on the original spec from the first buyer. Driving them, they are fabulous with bags of torque, towing is a breeze. Enjoy which ever one you choose and welcome. Thumbs Up

Good choice of engine, best “all rounder” in my opinion.

Personally, I’d not spend much money on a road going Diesel engined vehicle that wasn’t EU6. 👍

And so would I.

There are a great many significant improvements to the infotainment system for this model year fixing which was potentially the weakest link in the entire car.

Another vote for the VSE being sold by 725browning

MY17 so much improved from MY16, well specced, looked after properly with provenance, LR approved warranty until Sept 2021, and a bargain price!!

No brainer really.......... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography
2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Gone, but not forgotten

In answer to this bit - you won't miss what you haven't had Wink even a Vogue is a pretty good base spec.

There's a few bits that are AB only - but in general I just consider them options packs - with most things able to be spec'd onto lower models.

I usually go VSE as the sweet spot - but AB clearly has more stuff.

You basically need to figure out what toys you want.

On my L405 I wanted a minimum of 825W music system & my wife wanted cooled seats. Both can be spec'd on a Vogue but are standard on the SE - so I set that as my minimum search just to make it easier than reading all the descriptions.

I also needed a tow bar & they are an expensive retro fit, so that was a must have.

I ended up with a few bits I don't need, like deployable steps, a dual view screen etc - but for someone else they may be must haves......

Tow bar should be on you priority list if you want a deployable, to retro fit one is a few grand. However you can get a detachable westfalia one for around £600.

I would have a look at the members VSE as it looks like a nice car and has the updated nav screen which you won't have on a 16 or 14.

Definitely go for post 15 plate due to EU6.

good luck there are quite a few about and the prices are falling at the moment...... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Quite a few 15 plates are EU6 so don't rule them out purely based on plate Mr. Green

725browning's is stupidly cheap I would buy that! Followed by the 66 plate Mr. Green Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8
Previously George a 2007 MY07 Java Black VSE 3.6 TDV8
Previously a 04 MY04 Defender 90 Sad

+1 on Alistair for a). recommending that forum member's lovely fatty and b). for saying you won't miss what you've not had.

Once you have bought the VSE I will tell the ONLY thing that you should care about. And on hearing the triviality you'll realise why the VSE makes so much sense. Cool

p.s. buy it. £41k or so... that's crazy for how much car you get. You have to drive it. (lockdown and insurance permitting Laughing ). L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
