@mjdronfield

You are running version 1903 which has been superseded by version 1909 in spring this year .

Version 2004 is where this problem arises. Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006

Ah, ok.

Not sure why mine hasn’t updated then.

Perhaps the PATH variable can be updated so it looks for Adobe in the RAVE folder first, but the it would try and use that for all PDFs. Maybe need a script to save old path, mod it, run rave then change PATH back after.... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I have just installed W10 v2004 on my Desktop which I don't use very much these days.

Strangely Rave for both Land Rover and MG works just fine.
So I have 3 laptops that wont run Rave and one Desktop that will.

One of those laptops is running the insider preview version of windows 10 so I will try a clean install on that in the next week or two to see if I can get it working. Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006

I don’t actually need RAVE, having a 2011 car, but I find it easier to use than the workshop manual in the wiki, as each bit is a separate pdf. The RAVE menu system is good.

I like a bit of a challenge, been in IT all my life, but not as techy as I once was, so a bit out of touch with the behind the scenes of Windows 10.

I like Rave, it works well and in my opinion better than say VW's similar system.
I have been trying to convert the later model PDF to Word so that I can edit all the links so they point to the local document and not Topix but without success as they are password protected.

I too have been in IT for most of my life and am now retired so its very difficult to keep up, hence being a part of the Insider program.

Getting a new Knee fitted on Thursday so will have a good look at this while I recover and get back on my feet. Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006

OK got bored today as I am in isolation, and have had another look.

If you want to use Rave then you need to change the compatibility to Windows 98 / ME.

Just right click on your shortcut and click properties, then click the compatibility tab, click "run the program in compatibility mode" and then select Windows 98 / ME

I went through all the options and this one worked.

David

Edit : This may be related to using Windows 10 Home, I do not have the problem on Windows 10 Pro but I don't have enough data to go on. Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006

Thanks Bigbo for the tip on changing the compatability properties to Windows 98/ME, now works a treat. Been bugging for months not being able to get access. Thumbs Up David
