L405 water ingress pano roof

Hello

I am less than a week into my new vogue and this week with the horrendous weather have noticed water coming in at the front passenger roof side of the car

Does or has anyone have/had any issues with this or similar?

Sounds like a possible blocked drainage channel?

Open the roof and look in the front corners and you should see the drains. I have cleared then in the past with a good squirt of WD40 through the straw that cones with the tin.

Sorry, but I take it that this is the opening pano roof and not the fixed one?

Ah sorry I should’ve stated, it is a fixed roof!

Any ideas now?

I have today pulled the front of the headlining down and you can see the water in between the two skins which makes me think it is a poor roof seal??

When you say new, you mean new to you? Not trying to be a snob! (It comes naturally) But just checking because seals can fail as they age whereas a new vehicle would indicate a serious manufacturing failure.

If a slightly older vehicle I would also wonder if the roof had been replaced at some point, e.g. due to vandalism or an accident (like tree damage) or something. This is a seriously heavy piece of glass, so non-trivial to start remounting it, nut it sounds you’ll need to have that done, seals replaced, etc. Best now before winter sets in.

My car has a definite seal issue to the rear of my fixed pano. The rubber sticks up on the offside, like the seal is coming away. I poked it back in with a trim tool, but it decided it prefers an outer experience. I am now motivated to get it checked under warranty! L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... What was wrong with a metal roof and the odd sunroof!

Seriously nowadays who actually opens windows/sunroofs when it’s warm. Do we all just not turn up the AC....

Job on for the morning......check the pano roof..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

So it’s a 65 plate, but new to me, would seals go already after five years?

My first thought was maybe new screen, that still has the Land Rover writing in the bottom corner and the bonds look to straight to be replacement, however could’ve been a OEM new screen and a good fitter, my gut is telling me the roof as water is between the two skins behind front headlining

Tomorrow’s job, hold hose on top of screen and see if that penetrates, failing that I’ll then hold it over the pano roof where it meets the front seal and see if that does it

If it does I shall tape it up to seal short term and get it booked in for repair. Times likes this I wish the garage wasn’t full up with crap!!

Had this problem with mine. Water ingress on the passenger side. The dealer fixed it under warranty and the issue was a problem with the bonding of the windscreen whereby a 2cm length of bonding was missing. They took the screen out and completely re-bonded it. SDV8 AB MY 2019

Thanks Andy

I’m hoping that’s all it is, I have visions of the roof needing to come out etc, I’d take a new screen in a heart beat!!!

I hope that is all it is mate. I have the opening pano roof, so I feared the worst!

Here is the evidence

Washed the car a few times since and the past couple of days we have had non stop rain, but thankfully no longer a leaky old tub! SDV8 AB MY 2019

Thanks Andy

Glad yours is sorted, I’ve washed mine a few times since owning and no issues. Only with the really heavy rain of late

Hopefully sorted soon
