Replacing Air Suspension Pipe

The pipe had a kink in it so I’m replacing it but the issue I’m having is that there’s no enough room at the top to get a spanner on the nut to reconnect. I’ve seen this referred to as a push fit and the image I found through searching on here seems to imply that, but I’ve tried with all my might to push it in without result.

Hoping someone can point out the correct method.

Id guess that most who've done this, self included, will have done it as part of replacing a bag / strut. That being the case it's possible to connect the hose before moving the strut fully up to the mount.

Besides the awkwardness of trying to do it in situ, there's also the fact that it's a critical component, prone to problems, and likely to be compromised by any muck getting in there, of which there's plenty in the vicinity!

Yes, my first impression was definitely “this must be far easier without the airbag in situ”. I’m trying to exhaust all options before I have to remove the strut as that seems like a definite case of hammer to crack a nut. Although it is a RR so that comes with the territory I guess lol

Thanks for the reply Chris. 👍

As Chris says, the general guidance is to fit the air pipe to the bag before you locate the strut in position. You should also do this with the rear bags. This gives you much better access and view, so you can be certain you have done it correctly before locating the strut/bag. .

I have replaced the front struts but I don't know if it's possible to just undo the 3 top bolts (+ electrical connector and ARB link) and lower the strut down enough with a jack under it to gain enough access without having to remove the lower part from the hub. To be fair it's not that hard to do even that as long as you have a rattle gun to undo the lower 2 bolts. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
