Retrofit wading sensors

Evening All,
The recent floods got me thinking. My L405 does not have the wading sensors. This means that when I go in deep water, I have to open the window and lean out to see how far up the front wheel the water has come!

Does anybody know what is required to retrofit the wading depth sensors?

I believe it is done with cameras in the wing mirrors, but is it part of a greater system?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Chris. L405 - 4.4SDV8 Vogue

I have it on mine, it actually doesn't tell you how deep you are, but it does indicate when you are reaching limits apparently!! I am not brave enough to find out!! It's a good toy though. Good luck, I am sure its quite a mission to install software plus hardware but jolly good luck Thumbs Up

This place offers to fit it.

Reading their page:

As far as doing it. New mirror housing - which includes the space for the sensor. The 2018-2020 car might have the wiring and if you have the adaptive cruise control and the 360 camera. Then you only need to activate this in the software.

Looking at their other changes, it is expensive. e.g. 100 pounds to change the stop/start.
I did this with the IID tool. SDV8 AB MY 2020

I assume its only an option for 2018+ cars. Was the wade sensor even an option on the earlier l405's?

Interesting reading and something I’m going to follow up. I suspect it’s all retrofit kit as it’s moving from rear parking to proximity rear parking systems. I found the wiki info very informative so for the price quoted, it should be a fairly easy (haha) retrofit

One to note....the wade function doesnt work if you have fixed or deployable step according to the literature L405 2016 4.4SDV8 Autobiography Corris Grey/Pimento - Current
L322 2011 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE Alaska White/Charcoal - Gone
and lots of other none LR stuff…..
