Power Steering

Hi,

I'm new to the site but not new to RR problems!

My 2010 3.6TDV8 Vogue SE has has pretty much every problem under the sun, however the most recent one was sudden heavy steering and "Special Programs not available".

Took it to my local independent garage who have identified the problem as a faulty electrical connection to the power steering. They have had a look and can see the problem (see poor photo attached) they have had it apart and say the current connection is bodged from a different sensor on the car they don't want to do that again but can't source the right plug to attach to the power steering assembly. Does anyone know what plug it would be and where I can get one?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Mike

Engine rebuild 40,000 miles ago after blown turbo or possibly when the alternator was replaced in France in Feb this year

If that's the connector to the Servotronic valve on the steering rack it's the same as used on various BMWs for I think maybe the windscreen washer pump. I got a spare from a BMW breaker when I needed one.

However, it maybe easier just to find a breaker on ebay who deals with Range Rovers & contact them. The part won't be advertised as its so cheap they won't be bothered. But they probably will cut 1 off the wiring loom which they probably never sell.
It's the same connector for all engine variants from 2002 till probably 2010 plus.

Any second hand connector you get will obviously come with a short length of wiring attached that will need to spliced onto the existing wiring.

PS Beware its very easy to damage the connector pins on the servotronic valve, so check they're OK before trying to fit an alternative connector Paul,
