Tracker recommendations

Trying to add a 5.0 SC that I am buying to my fleet policy and they require a tracker to fitted due to keyless start.

Having never had a tracker before are there any recommendations for which one offers the best value for money? 2004 4.2 SC Japan Spec

Hi

I would ask what trader they want, Thatcham approved etc
You could do a search for what is the most cost effective. I'm sure you will find reviews on line.
I had to have one with the Porsche but they told me what I had to have,

Morning. If you are free to choose the type, I have SKYTAG fitted to one of my classic vehicles. Various levels of cover available, easy to fit and good value in my opinion. Many LR aftermarket parts suppliers sell these for around £130, then from £6.99 per month for the basic cover. I have no connection with this company.

If it’s a 405, doesn’t it have a factory fitted tracker? Mine does and is acceptable to my insurance provider.

The factory fit tracker is very good and the Land Rover in control phone you if there is a issue or battery disconnection . The downside is that all the thieves know where the tracker is located so they rip the car apart to get to it .

The only tracker worth getting is a Thatcham S5 one ( previously known as Cat5 ) as they have a seperate dongle or tag you keep in your wallet or handbag . An alert is issued if the car moves without the tag present , so even if the keys were to be stolen you get alerted .

Have a look on this retailers site , its also worth looking at some of the battery powered ones listed on eBay for a cheaper solution .

I don't have any affinity to any of the above !

If you don't need an approved one, as above, one of the little cheap ones may be fine for you.

I have a TK905 which has an integral battery and permanently wired into the L405 so it charges when the ignition is on. It has pay as you go SIM installed in it and has used about £1 of data over the last year. They are only about £30 - £35 on eBay. No subscription needed and very accurate.

I have a Land Rover Trackstar TSC052 - CAT6/S7. It had to be at least Cat 6 for my insurance company. Fortunately it was already fitted when I got the car. All I have to pay is the subscription.

I’ve had a Meta Track system fitted to my last two new RR’s and to two new BMW’s in recent years by the company shown below. No problems with the system whatsoever ever and no issue with LR when dealing with warranty issues. It’s an immobiliser with a separate fob too.

Much better tracking than the LR control system as evidenced when I took the RR on the euro tunnel this year. I switched the engine off and within a few seconds of the train moving Meta Track called me. Nothing from the LR tracker. Not the cheapest but excellent fitting and after service.

Contact Gary the owner if interested:
