Lower arm dilemma

Hi all

It was Silvia’s MOT today and disappointingly she failed on excessive movement in the ball joint of the FOS lower arm.

After looking around on the web I am shocked at the difference in price of lower arms.

The genuine Land Rover arm is £202 and has a 1 year warranty. On the other hand the Delphi arm is £47, branded original equipment and has a 2 year warranty.

What am I missing here?

Jim

Rob, my question is, is there really that much difference between the lower arms when the 2 OEM ones come with 2 years warranty company red to the exorbitant price of the LR arm which only comes with a 1 year warranty?

Thanks for your replies guys 👍

I’ve gone with a pair of Delphi arms.

The ones currently on the car are LR so I will clean them up and re-bush them as spares.

I can vouch for the Delphi's as well.

I normally swear by Lemforder, but a Lemforder lower arm from ECP lasted only a year before the ball joint was goosed (and no the rubber wasn't split).

The Delphi's seem very well made. Fitted one around 2 years ago and another on the other side just the other week.

My indy fitted lemforders about 4 years ago. Been OK. Previous cars:

Yeah, I don't normally fit anything else but Lemforder, same for my Landies that did a lot of off-roading in Australia - they always stood up very well.

But the one I got from ECP for my L322 was totally shot after 10K / 1yr, perhaps it was a duff / someone had swapped the boxes contents? I think I got a refund, can't remember now.

Has made me wary of ECP more than Lemforder if I'm honest, but that experience made me try the Delphi ones and so far so good! Thumbs Up 1992 RR Classic 3.9 efi Vogue
