Archie Has Finally Got His L322! - Project Thread

Well having looked at some truly shoddy examples of L322 out there, I feel really lucky to have managed to snag a members car within my budget, So after a 450 mile round trip I finally have a lovely 2007 L322 Vogue. Thanks goes to Steve who was very accommodating and had the most complete car history file I have ever seen.

Jobs to Do:
- De-Chrome it (Sorry Steve)
- New Side Vents & Grill
- The Bluetooth phone connection is horrific, really crackly on the speakers and people can't hear me when I talk (any advice on these would be great)
- Get the mirrors to fold when the car is locked, they work fine when button pressed but not when locked
- Some minor condensation in the rear passenger light cluster.
- Fit my existing number plate Very Happy

I am seriously looking forward to my Full Fat Motoring! Pics below:

Looks good. Not sure you can get the mirrors to fold when it’s locked. That’s on the later cars. Though if you set up some relay system etc, I’m sure you could mod it.

To be fair, mine does it and I hate it. Unlock car, they fold out.... get something out of car.... lock car... fold in. What a waste of battery power if the car isn’t started. Surprised it doesn’t take off sometimes 🤣

Well the first upgrade was completed last night. I had been looking for a way to stream my iPhone to the stereo but I only have the AUX input and not the Audio Connectivity Kit I didn't know what to buy, A long search of this forum shows plenty of people doing it but with lots of dead links to long extinguished eBay pages or non-existent photos i was coming up short.

Anyway I took a punt on this TaoTronics Car Kit:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00Y29...&psc=1

And it works really well. Its not a seamless solution by any means as I cant skip tracks using the steering wheel with it and so far I have to reconnect it to my phone in the mornings or after work when I get back in the car (I think it must go into standby or something) but for the price I can now stream Spotify and the sound quality is pretty good. I have it sat in the centre cubby all nice and tidy.

Job for the weekend is to change over the Front & Side Grills.

Managed to have a day on the car today, so first indoor job while it was raining was to replace the venture cam batteries.

I had seen these:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Replacement...2749.l2649

and thought I would give it a go, didn't fancy soldering as per other providers. So took apart the cam, plugged this in and boom all the lights sprang to life. Tested it on the car and all docked and working.

Next Task was changing over the side grills, this was a little tricky as the bottom bolt securing them on both sides had sheered the bracket they screw into, so had to rummage around for a bolt slightly larger but I think its a nice little upgrade. Needs a wash now though!

Not sure if anyone is actually interested and reading this or not but I like keeping a build record for my own reminiscence so hopefully no one minds.

So after much sweat and swearing I managed to fit the black grill. I also managed to find time to paint and coat the fog light surrounds which arrived already with the primer and I know its only a little job but for someone that has never done any car painting before it was pretty daunting but I am impressed at how they came out. I finally have a black front end.

I have ordered some multi solve in a last ditch effort to get as much of the glue off the wing mirror as possible before fitting the replacement mirror caps this weekend.

also went a little crazy and ordered some black lettering haven't yet decided if I want to fit them or not but thought I would order them just in case!

Slightly off topic, but on a my2010 you can definitely program the behaviour of the folding mirrors. So if you don’t like it you can switch it off, or have it such that you need to do a double press. Hope that helps.

I haven’t got a pre 2010 to try the programming.
