In my petrol L322 4.4 V8 (same as yours) I once tested this, as it's also fitted with LPG.

After a couple of restarts with the fuel light on my 4.4 tdv8, it throws a panic and displays restricted performance. |

When I had my old TD6 Rangie, I would be doing 600 miles travelling per week, at 60 miles each way commute. I always ran 'tank to tank', filling up every Friday afternoon after getting home, so I would sometimes end up with the fuel light coming on with 60 miles to do to get to the petrol station (okay it's a diesel, but we call them petrol stations!). I would reset the trip counter as soon as the light came on, supposed to come on with 60 miles range left, and then see which was more accurate the mileometer or the range countdown. Never managed to get to zero miles on the range counter, even after doing 75 miles due to a detour one time. Was a bit nervy though as when I refilled that day I put 99.6 litres of diesel in the tank! |

Not a good idea with injection systems to run them out of fuel, all sorts of damage can be done. On LPG systems the fuel pump is often left running to stop the petrol under the bonnet boiling (or it was on my LPG Rangie). BMW i3 Electric Car

You never go passed a petrol station when on empty, ever, I was wondering how many litres where going to be left as a reserve, could of got home again if I didnt fill up. Thanks Tim, the pixles where repaired 7 years ago when I got the RR and I must say the chap who did it has done a good job, well worth the money spent. If it dont work.......burn it! If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF. If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser! If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !! |

Never knew that, thanks ![]() It was on the first engine 'hiccup' that I immediately switched over to LPG and then filled up within a mile.
