My FFRR has just been into the garage to have the dreaded oil level sensor replaced. Fortunately it is still under warranty and they paid for it. One issue that did crop up was that they could not get the front drive shaft out of the hub. As such they ended removing the whole knuckle and driveshaft complete. So, for some preventative maintenance, I have decide to replace the whole lot but, this time, with copperslip so it all comes apart again (thinking CV joints and gaiters here). Having priced up the complete knuckle at over £900, I have done some shopping around and have managed to get the whole lot for just over £300 a side, This includes new drive shafts as well. The actual knuckle is second hand but will be fine with a bit of a clean-up. Just need to find a garage to assemble and change it all over.
