Wiper issue

Got a 2011 vogue SE - today driving down the M1 and the drivers side windscreen wiper flipped across to the right violently

Thought it had snapped of but it had not

Did use the left side - could feel the drivers side through the brake pedal

Any thoughts -

I’m sure you’d would’ve, but check the nut that holds the blade arm to the splined shaft. They used to come loose.
