Meridian Reference and Hi Res Audio

Hey guys. Been loving my L405 5.0 AB for the last 6 months. It's a late 2013 with a huge spec and after owning a few interesting cars in the past, I don't think I could ever part with the FFRR! It's clear I've caught the bug. It just does everything so well.

I've been trying to play high quality audio files, through Tidal on an iPhone Se, to get the most of the Meridian Reference system. When I attempt to connect the iPhone through the USB socket in the armrest, I just get an error message! Therefore, I've only been streaming audio through Bluetooth, which really does not do the wonderful system justice!

Does anyone have any recommendations on what I could do? I may be able to connect through an AudioQuest DAC and into the Aux, but that will allow no control of tracks or display but will sound good! I've tried searching everywhere but can't find a solution.

Many thanks. Really hope I can start doing the system justice!!

Does the 2013 not accept audio files from USB drives? In mine, I can play flac files as high as 24/192... It's true that it's more convenient to stream from the phone... I use both. Anyway, the sound system is awesome, I started reconsidering my beloved headphones/earphones after I got the car, they all sound like s**t now... And listening to speakers on a home audio system is a forgotten pleasure of the 90's... 2019 Vogue P400e

I'm yet to try a USB with loaded flac tracks. Using Tidal nowadays has almost killed the concept for me completely (sadly

A lightning to USB cable doesn't work whatsoever. Maybe I need to deviate from the Apple cables and try something else.

I agree that the sound system, when using a great source such as CD, is mind blowing. I may have to just bite the bullet and use a iPhone > DAC > Aux and lose the convenience of the car controls. I feel the loss of convenience may have to be worth it!

Thanks so far for all the info!
