What is this part? Center cubby insert tray

Hi everyone,

While looking for a solution to add at least one cup holder I stumbled across this and I'm not sure what this is.







It looks like it's a tray that sits in the bottom center console cubby area.

03 Land Range Rover L322 Insert Tray Console Cover Panel 51.16 7033769

The listing claims this will fit in my '09. But, why? Does it have any function other than to reduce the amount of usable space by a small amount?

The part number seems more like a BMW number than a LR number.

It is an insert for the cubby bo, but only applicable to the pre-Facelift models - where the cubby internals are slightly different shapes.
I think even the early Facelift models cubby lower area differs slightly compared to the later one via modified 12v socket position & Ipod / USB connectors. Paul,

It looks more like the tray for the rear cubby/armrest to me?
