Rear wing access

In the last 2 months the R/N/S wing on Sylvia has developed the dreaded rust bubbles

My question - is the rear wing double skinned? I want to gain access to the rear of the bubbling and try to kill the rust from behind until I can get her into a body shop for a respray.

So how do I gain access? Remove the bumper and go up from underneath or remove all the entertainment equipment from the boot?

I had mine done in the same area this year by a local (very good) bodywork man and he removed the bumper and went from underneath. It's a while since I took the bumper off myself but, as far as my recollection goes, it is single skin. John

So if I drop the bumper I should just be able to get my hand up behind the bubbling?

To my knowledge, yes. Be careful taking the bumper off the clips thaat hold it on are very easily broken. They aren't really clips but holes in the inner edge of the bumper which "tongues" slot into.

Have a search on the Powerful UK website for a video that covers bumper removal. John

Blooming great lump of plastic which holds the bumper behind the plastic bumper part.
Can you get access if you take the light fitting out of the rear?

The only way I can see to get access from inside is to strip out all the ICE and sat nav equipment. I was told by someone that it’s double skin so it would be doubtful the I could reach it even if I remove everything?

That wing panel is single skin behind the sound deadening and definitely cannot be accessed from below outside the car.
I know because along time ago I stripped out most of the bits on each side in order to give the areas a good coating of grease in order to prevent the problem you have after seeing photographs of other peoples cars.
Must have worked, no corrosion.
All the bits out I'm afraid. Thumbs Up
