Just Received what I think is a fake text saying they have identified that I am eligible to apply for vaccine do they send out texts from a mobile number ?

what i am led to believe is that you'll get a letter followed up by a phone call..... ... - .- -.

Friend of mine got a fake track & trace - then was asked for £50 for a test.

I certainly wouldn't be 'applying' for a vaccine - would expect a communication from my GP offering me a way to book....

My Mother & Mother-in-law have both been contacted by text, in one case there was a link to a page to make the booking and the other was just a prompt to phone the surgery to make the booking, both were legitimate texts.
My guess is that the method will depend on the surgery as their seems to be no set method.

I was just leaving, with my 90 year old mum, to take her to a pre-op COVID test at the main hospital, on the Monday before Christmas, when she received a phone call from the hospital asking if she’d like a first Inoculation afterwards.

When we got there, not even the testing staff or the main reception knew where the inoculations were being given, it’s a well kept secret! Managed to find it eventually though - and we know our way around!

To cut a long story short, it could simply be a phone call to get you to go.

Agree with cass. Our surgery send out texts as well. But more on the lines of don’t contact us, we contact you

On a different note, I’m impressed with the current testing regime. On Christmas Day I had cause to be concerned; the app put in place with infected people, my mother in law had a high temperature, and I was having some symptoms. I booked the test on Christmas Day evening, had it the following morning on Boxing Day at a drive through centre. And received the result at 6:15am the following morning.

Like with any test or scam asking for money. If they do, then don’t. And if in doubt use a known telephone number to check the validity.
