Thinking of buying a 2018 MY+ FFRR. Would you go for the V6 or V8 diesel? Also on the 2018+ cars what does the SE have as standard over a Vogue and what does the AB have over the SE?


Does anyone think the 18 MY+ cars will drop in price soon? They start at approx £55k.

Personally would go for the 4.4 v8, but there are plenty out there who will argue the point for the v6.

In terms of price drop, I wouldn’t expect much of a drop any time soon. prices seem to be holding firm at the moment due to lack of supply last year. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Having driven both, I would (and did) buy an SDV8 for the anti roll system alone, it also sounds nicer and goes a bit better.

I don’t think the prices are going to drop for a while, I bought mine 8 months ago and it would cost broadly the same now. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

SDV8 for anti roll (as above) and for immunity to crankshaft failure that happens to some SDV6’s.

Worth saying, I've now had 4 TDV6 engines across Disco's and FFRR's and never had any problems whatsoever  All LR cars from 1984

Its the V8 for me. The V6 has better fuel economy and still goes quite well, but the extra umpf (technical term), anti roll system and no timing belt makes the V8 the one to go for,

I bought a year ago yesterday, and I think its worth about £1k more now than what I paid for it. Current:

Talking of the lack of timing belt, it’s well worth seeing the timing chain on the SDV8- I’ve seen anything like it on a car before!

I've got the 3.0SE and had both 4.4 V8 and the Supercharged version. My favourite is the Supercharged one for it's noise and performance but the best all rounder is the 4.4 V8. Lovely engine, torque is immense and the anti roll system just the icing on the cake BUT the V6 is perfectly adequate for everyday use unless you are thinking of towing where the extra grunt would be much better.
You pay's your money etc etc but a V6 is a great car unless you have specific requirements other than standard driving.

Good question. Don’t get me wrong, there are lots of things that I like about the facelift, but the top five things that I would sorely miss are:

1. The deletion of the dual view centre screen (Kathy likes to watch a film on a journey).
2. The removal of the concealed bins in the armrests. Used to have something similar in my Citroen XM’s in the 90’s and we’ve missed them ever since!
3. The deletion of the most comfortable head restraints I’ve ever found in a car (Autobiograhy)! They are the only head restraints that I’ve ever managed to get to sleep using.
4. The loss of tactile buttons, for major functions (that I can use without taking my eyes off the road) in the lower centre console.
5. The loss of a standard DVD/CD player. Sure, it can be added at build, but it’s takes up much of the upper glovebox and it’s not an option when a customer’s looking for a used example.

Fair enough. I haven't run a pre facelift so I don't miss what I've never had, although there are some features my BMW had that I do miss. I understand the dual view and additional storage points, particularly the latter as the small item storage isn't great in mine, which is worse as I don't put anything in the fridge other than drinks I want to be cold so I use the cupholders quite a bit and if I put a phone in there I can't close the lid.... I don't like open cupholders.

I was a little concerned about the touchscreens, but there isn't anything I've struggled with as it's got physical controls for the things I need to use when driving and I really like the more modern look. Mine has a CD/DVD player which I can't see me ever using!

My last car had Alcantara pillows on the rear headrests which were super comfortable. I only sat in the back one, that was to get an hours sleep in a quiet part of a wedding as we didn't think we'd make it to the end otherwise, the seats reclined pretty well so it was really easy to sleep. A few of our friends got the wrong idea about what we were doing which made for some funny conversations, but they were more impressed than anything else!  MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid
