Roof Rails - Aftermarket

Hi all

My quest for a roof bar solution continues, I have found a potential solution (Australian Rhino Bars) but in the UK it’s an expensive option, a request from help from our Australian members was really helpful

Before I bite the bullet I do wonder if any of you have tried roof rails, not the powerful uk ones (to limiting for cross bars and need the caps removing permanently)

Specificity this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313420652713

I have asked questions about caps etc but looking for any real world experience, I think the tall chrome ones are not to my taste but these Matt black ones are tempting, they look a little less aftermarket

Cheers

Sorry that I don't have any comments on the eBay option.

You don't say what year you have (and I don't know if it even makes a difference) but I was able to find the full OEM roof rails and cross bars from a auto dismantlers here in the USA.

What was frustrating is that it seemed that many of them didn't even list the roof rack system when they had one.

I eventually scoured the websites and found one pictured but not listed as a separate item. I contacted them and they were able to confirm it and send me the whole system. I had to bring one of the locks to a locksmith for them to make a key but that was only $35 (USD).

It seems the hardest part is finding the mounting pads. The set I found didn't have them but I was able to find another RR with a rack (same wrecking yard) and they got the pads off of that one.

If anyone is missing their pads I'm working with another local RR owner to create a 3D file so others can download it and then 3D print them. If you need the pads, let me know and I'll contact you when the file is ready.

Good luck!

Sorry but I only have the picture from the accessories catalog. My roof rack system is still a pile of parts since I haven't installed it yet.

Hope this helps!

Larry.

Perfect, yes that’s the kit we can get this side (wondered if it’s different) it’s the cross bars that limit it for me, they have a limited amount of space and sit inboard

I am a white water kayaker so loading boats is that I am looking to do

Yea, I understand.

I used to have a Yakima setup but I don't think they have any adapters to fit this system.

I seem to recall that maybe Thule has some system. Or was it Rhino Rack? Either way, none of the options are cheap.

Good luck,
