Lower tailgate not closing properly.

Hi everyone, the lower tailgate doesn't close properly, it isn't connecting with the catches, can't see anything moving, sometimes because of this the top half of the tailgate won't lock, 2012 Westminster.

Any ideas please?

Spray a bit of lubricant over the latches on the tailgate, and make sure that the 2 plastic manual release levers both move freely.

I am assuming everything lines up... just won’t latch.

As Mark says, can you hear the solenoid moving back and forwards when you press the button.

Might be a better idea to post the question in the maintenance and mods section. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

You can operate the latches using a screwdriver whilst spraying wd40 all over them. This usually gets them working again. Thumbs Up

The two plastic manual release levers (one on each catch) need pulling outwards away from the boot. The lower tailgate should then lock. This is quite a common issue when dust gets into the latches, which is why IMHO it's best to use something light like WD40 to lubricate them rather than tacky spray grease, which might be used for other locks / hinges.

Thanks for the reply, will try this tomorrow and will let you know how I get on, and yes when I press the button I can hear the solenoid working.
