Check your tracker after service

My car went in for an annual service yesterday at the new South West London statement site. Shortly after I had left the car at the dealership I was alerted by my tracker that the car was on the move. I thought it was strange that they had started on it so soon so I checked the data on the tracker and they had taken it out to Tesco! Not happy that they are using my car to get their breakfast.

This was not a test drive because there was no time to have done any service work. Besides they took it on another test drive down the road and back in the afternoon after they had finished (which is normal).

It makes me wonder what dealers get up to in my other cars which don’t have trackers on. Rolling Eyes

My car gets taken before they do the service as well. And good thing they do as they notice other things that require attention that one doesn’t necessarily see in a static inspection.

Chill dude Wink

Well, the after sales manager agreed with me that it shouldn’t have happened and was going to investigate who actually took it out. Regardless of whether the test drive is needed or not, they should not be using my car for personal use. What would have happened if it had got damaged in Tesco’s car park?

its not right is it....

i cant see any logical reason to take it for a test drive before a service ,after yes...

as you say what would the outcome be if it did get knocked in tesco's.... ... - .- -.

Outcome in Tesco’s car park would be no different then the outcome on the road right in front of the shop. Am I missing something here?

The point is that it’s an added risk needlessly taken.

Really? What additional risk is there?

I’m sorry, well actually I’m not but to me that is just an unwarranted overreaction.

What about if they were at Waitrose would that be better? 🤣

I’m sorry, but maybe I’m not, but I certainly don’t want people taking my car for a spin to the local shops whilst I’m paying for them to look after it.
We all have our own opinion about this but criticism of others for having theirs seems a little off, as does suggesting that they are overreacting.

Of course! That would have been perfectly acceptable. My Waitrose is full of Bentaygas, Cullinans and DBXs parked across two spaces each, so no risk at all. Rolling Eyes

someone is missing the point here Rolling Eyes

OP's fatty should not have been driven to tesco's whilst in for a service ...its a violation of customer trust and dealer policy....
hopefully the dealer principle will apologise profusely to the OP.. ... - .- -.

Very much doubt that they will apologise.
The staff there are some of the ones from Thames Ditton. Only found out my D4 was used when the parking ticket non payment letter arrived.
They claimed that it was being used to drop off parts whilst on a test drive!
Liars and cheats.

Unless the trip formed part of the service this looks like taking a vehicle without consent, a criminal offence. So the least I’d expect is either an explanation or an apology. L405 4.4 AB Loire Blue

It’s not worth getting too upset about, but I wouldn’t be happy and would expect an apology as a minimum. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid
