Just wondering if you can all offer some advise.

I've just done a gearbox oil change on my project L322.

Following the ZF guide to change oil and etc when starting the car and putting it into D I get greeted with the message that the Transmission is Overheating.

At first I thought it might be due to me topping off the Gearbox oil as outlined but following the guide and getting the dribble to come out of the fill plug and then testing within 2 seconds of being in D it throws the fault.

I then scanned the car and found that the error code it'd had hit was P2787-00 Clutch temperature too high.

Following scanning the car I then looked at the temp of the oil and it was 67c. I felt around the gearbox cooler at the front and it and both pipes seems to be warm.

I cleared all codes and the issue is still present, I HAVE NOT reset adaptations as I read elsewhere on this forum not to do so.

So I'm a little dazed and confused at this point.

Have I installed a filter that is causing this issue?
By running the gearbox and hitting this fault have I created other issues with the clutch pack?

I'd really apprecate the advice as I'm feeling a little unchristmassy at the moment due to it so!

That is a strange one. The transmission doesn’t contain any sensors that directly measure the clutch temperatures, only one for measuring the bulk oil temperature in the sump. This is located in the electronic module of the Mechatronic unit and, in your case, appears to be functioning correctly (reading 67°C). The controller must use some algorithm to predict clutch pack temperature based on its slip speed, solenoid current (clutch application pressure) and bulk oil temperature.

Thanks for letting me know about the adaptions. It didn't make sense to me when I saw people resetting it...

I'm glad I wasn't going insane, I spent a long time trying to get anything regarding 'Clutch Temp' and clearly I was not going to find much.

When I clear the code, if I place the gearbox into into D and very slowly accelerate it throws the code after about 3 seconds after selection. The code is stored as a permanent!

As you can tell I was utterly stumped when I saw that fault!

Ah also to mention I'm using an older version of SDD that I had while I save up for a GAP IID Reader.

The pan that was fitted looks genuine as I compared it to the one that came off. The one that came off was the original one from 2006 when the car was made so it's never been serviced....

Hi RRPhil!

I feel a little silly. I think I'm starting to understand whats going on here..

When I carried out this entire process the vehicle was on jack stands.

I think from your insight the issue is that the TCCM is unable to read any speed increase from any of the wheels so it based off a algorithm must assume the clutch is overheating?

I could be talking complete rubbish here but I was just looking at the images I took of the DTCs I had and it's also complaining about the Vehicle speed sensor....

Just wanted to update this thread just incase someone else comes across this issue!

Rather strange but the same issue occured when the vehicle was put back down off the ramps.

The fault would occur just when the car would start moving. Found out that the nearside rear ABS sensor was intermittantly having some issues.

I had just dropped the subframe so clearly in the process the the removal the connector has clearly had some corrosion.

Cleaned out connector and fitted new sensor and the issues we're gone!
