Think I'd bet a lot of money it is not oil from the gearbox, the pressure in the cooling system is far greater than the pressure in the gearbox, usually the gearbox fills with coolant and gets destroyed in just a few miles...

I still recon it is an error by someone before topping up the wrong bit... Pete

Thanks Pete.

Ive noticed the cooling hoses are externally oily, im thinking it would take some time for the oil to penetrate the rubber hoses. 2015 AB 5.0 Supercharged

The rubber is not likely to leak, it usually leaks where the rubber meets the metal fittings... no relevance to your original issue though.. Pete

As coolant is cheap, perhaps worth to empty, flush and refill the system fully. Then monitor it from there. I’d be generous with flushing it out Smile

So just an update, I’ve replaced the transmission oil cooler and tested the old oil cooler for leaks but none apparent cold.

Drained 100 mill of auto fluid cannot see any traces of water and as mentioned before the engine oil filler cap and filter look clean.

I’ve now flushed the coolant a few times.

This could be a stupid question but I’m just learning this motor and I’m finding info on the web hard to come by compared to the L322 and older. Is it possible for supercharger oil to enter the coolant?

If anything the oil in the coolant smells more like dif/gear box oil. More similar to the Lifeguard 8. I would have expected some fuel smell still present if engine oil but not ruling anything out.

Next I’m going to have the oil tested to clarify the source, this is assuming I can collect a sample from the coolant (wish I kept a sample initially) and have it compared to the engine oil, Trans oil and supercharger oil. 2015 AB 5.0 Supercharged
